Sports Medicine Australia launches membership mentoring program
After overwhelming feedback from members and as part a commitment to sharing knowledge, Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) is implementing a membership mentoring program throughout 2014.
Launched as a pilot program in Victoria in 2013, the SMA Mentoring Program aims to provide professional members with the opportunity to access the support of a mentor to grow their career and professional development, while at the same time, increasing their networking across the organisation.
The program also aims to engage more experienced members in the organisation while at the same time providing support and guidance for younger members.
The program will now run nationally, with the exception of South Australia, which is expected to join the program at a later date.
Feedback received from the pilot program was overwhelmingly positive, as witnessed in this quote from a participant: "I have really valued my time and come away at the end of each meeting inspired with what I can do to better myself professionally."
