Sport SA set to stage second Festival of Sport Industry Conference

Sport SA has revealed details of its Festival of Sport Industry program, being held in Adelaide held over three days - 15th May and 22nd and 23rd May.

The event starts on Wednesday 15th May at a breakfast event at the Karen Rolton Oval, with former Socceroo and social justice and human rights campaigner, Craig Foster.

Presented in collaboration with the Australia Day Council, Foster will discuss his refugee advocacy and efforts to ‘level the playing field’ for women, including his role in assisting the Afghanistan women’s football team to escape Afghanistan prior to the Taliban resuming control. 

The Industry conference on the 22nd and 23rd May at the new Wolf Blass Event Centre at Adelaide’s Morphettville Race Course, will feature a range of local and national speakers with Australian Sports Commission Chief Executive Kieren Perkins to share his into Australia’s preparation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Beyond Paris, Perkins will talk about the decade of opportunity which Brisbane 2032 Olympics represents and the ASC’s leadership role in uniting the sport sector around building an inclusive and sustainable sporting system.

With themes of Financial Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability and Sustainable Participation, other speakers will include the Sports Environment Alliance’s Jan Fitzgerald and Paralympic Committee Board Member at Large Robyn Smith.

Hosted by Sport SA with funding from the South Australia Government the Conference will be opened by South Australian Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Katrine Hildyard.

In a statement, Sport SA advise that the “program offers opportunities to connect and share in a relaxed, dynamic and future-focused environment.

“The Festival is for anyone involved in sport, whether you’re a leader wishing to give back, a graduates considering a career in the sports industry, a sport professionals or volunteer who is passionate about learning and knowledge-sharing, or a sports fans looking to mix and mingle.”

Sport SA adds that the event has “been created to showcase and celebrate the reach of sport, and to stimulate South Australia's vibrant sports ecosystem.”
