SpeedFit announces new head of training

SpeedFit, Australia's largest EMS (electronic muscle stimulation) personal training franchise company, has appointed former F45 Chief Athletic Officer, Nathan Mageropoulos, to the newly created role of Head of Training in the business.

In this role, Mageropoulos will be part of the SpeedFit leadership team, responsible for developing, implementing and rolling out the training for the group’s instructors, managers and franchisees on a national scale as well as overseeing the delivery of best practice and innovative training, learning and development across the network.

One of Mageropoulos' first projects for SpeedFit will be a nationally accredited training course, to help drive the expansion throughout Australia and deliver a consistent experience across all studios.

The Head of Training was created in response to an impressive last 12 months of business where the company experienced 127% year-on-year growth in the 2020/21 financial year, opening nine new studios across Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and the NSW Central Coast.

Most recently the company has opened studios in East Gosford, NSW and at Karrinyup and Bull Creek in Western Australia while preparing to expand into the ACT for the first time as of next month.

Commenting on the appointment of Mageropoulos (pictured), SpeedFit co-founder and Chief Executive, Matej Varhalik stated “Nathan has demonstrated some great results in revolutionising the fitness industry and we are very excited to have him join the SpeedFit team.

“His knowledge and experience in the industry compliments our vision for expansion and developing our offer further.

“SpeedFit combines science and technology with a personal touch so each client receives a program that is tailored to their health and fitness needs. We pride ourselves on being able to do this in 20 minute sessions, which provides a significant benefit for people living busy lives and looking for ways to use their time more effectively.”

Looking forward to his new role, Mageropoulos commented “I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 14 years and it is an industry that never stops evolving or improving what it has to offer.

“Over the past few years we have seen huge enhancements in fitness technology taking place across Australia so when the opportunity to work with SpeedFit came up I was really pumped to get involved.

“The idea that you can have an effective workout in just twenty minutes is really impressive and being able to tailor each program to suit an individual is amazing.

“SpeedFit is at the forefront of emerging fitness brands in Australia and I am really looking forward to working alongside Matej and the team to help take the business to the next level.”

Based in NSW, Mageropoulos’ industry career has seen him working across personal training, group exercise, corporate wellness and strength and conditioning.

He has spent the last eight years at F45 Training, where he was most recently Chief Athletics Officer and was responsible for the innovation and enhancement of F45 Training's Athletics Experience across their 1700+ locations globally.
