South Australian AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety award winners named
The South Australian Aquatic and Leisure Centre and AUSTSWIM have celebrated the recipients of the 2018 South Australian AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety award.
The two recipients of the 2018 South Australian AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety award, Elizabeth (Beth) Gould and Simon Moore, are both from the South Australian Government owned and YMCA operated, SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre.
Their achievements were celebrated at an event last Wednesday (1st August).
Each year, AUSTSWIM provides an opportunity to identify and honour individual AUSTSWIM Teachers, Presenters and Recognised Swim Centres from across the country for their respective contributions to aquatic education and water safety.
The celebration saw South Australian Business Manager, Sarah Gale, present both swim teachers with their awards and express her gratitude of their achievement within the aquatic industry and their contribution to water safety education in South Australia. Beth’s feedback was read proudly to the audience, with Simon’s soon following.
Gale commented “Beth is well liked and respected by all. The parents request Beth because she is so successful at engaging even the most reluctant swimmer, is reliable, compassionate and great at technique progression.
“Simon has been an absolute blessing as he has not only provided the required basics for water safety, but also nurtured the student’s interest in the finer details of perfecting strokes and extras that other instructors wouldn't normally bother with at her age.”
Adam Luscombe, General Manager at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, has expressed his gratitude of AUSTSWIM’s efforts with the awards and Sarah Gale’s attendance of the morning tea.
Lucombe added “thank you to Sarah Gale and AUSTSWIM for their ongoing support within the swimming industry, recognising brilliance, commitment and innovation in the teaching of swimming and water safety.”
The Awards operate at two levels - state/territory and national. State and territory selection committees select finalists for each award category, with one of these finalists becoming the state/territory award recipient. State/territory award recipients then become nominees for the National AUSTSWIM Aquatic Industry Awards.
The pair will now be considered at the upcoming National AUSTSWIM Aquatic Industry Awards.
