SMAANZ set to celebrate 30th annual conference in Geelong

The Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ) is counting down to its 2024 annual conference, to be held Deakin University’s Geelong Waterfront Campus from 4th to 6th December.

Set to be SMAANZ’s 30th annual conference, the conference, hosted by Deakin University’s sport management group, aims to celebrate the growth and development of the SMAANZ community over the past three decades and use this as a base to look forward to the future.

Recognising the growth of the SMAANZ community, the Association has also aligned the conference format with sister organisations to provide a three-day conference running from Wednesday to Friday. In addition, a higher degree research (HDR) day will be held on Tuesday 3rd December.

In a statement, SMAANZ advised “listening to our community members' feedback, the three-day conference format allows us to do more of what makes SMAANZ great - more time to network and build connections, more people in presentations and more professional development.

“Collectively, we believe these changes enhance our ability to deliver on the purpose of SMAANZ to encourage scholarly enquiry in sport management and provide a forum to present and communicate the results of sport management research.”

Deakin University also hosted the 20th SMAANZ Conference in 2014.

Early bird registration close on Monday 30th September 2024.
