RASF and Quayclean announce two rural scholarship recipients

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation (RASF) and Quayclean Australia have announced Natalie Letcher (above left) from Broken Hill  and Briony Willett (above right) from Corowa as two of the 82 recipients of the RAS’s 2022 Rural Scholarship program.

Supporting students from a variety of industries, the scholarships provide financial assistance for regional and rural students studying at a recognised NSW University or TAFE.

Quayclean Australia is a proud supporter of the RASF scholarship program and is delighted to be contributing financially to Willett and Letcher to assist them with their full-time studies.

Quayclean Chief Executive, Mark Piwkowski, congratulated Willett and Letcher on their scholarships advising “through our work at the annual Royal Easter Show, we have witnessed first-hand the wonderful contribution regional men and women make to NSW and Australia. We are honoured to partner with the RASF to assist Briony and Natalie with their tertiary education studies and allow them the opportunity to contribute towards building strong, vibrant, and resilient regional communities.”

RASF Manager, Cecilia Logan, said scholarship recipients are often required to relocate to regional centres to further their studies but have a passion to actively contribute to communities upon graduating.

Logan advises “these scholarships are designed to assist recipients with accommodation, textbooks or income which allows them to focus on their studies.”

Willett, who is in her final year of a Bachelor of Social Work degree, said her community lacks services, support, and tertiary qualified practitioners.

“I will soon complete my degree and plan to stay living in a regional community to address the need for professional and emotional support for young children and adolescents,” said Willett.

Letcher, who lives in Orange and is studying a Diploma of Nursing shared “while the countryside has my heart, so does nursing, I embrace every opportunity I get to learn new things in the industry and become better. I love the chances I get to look after people who are ill and all they need is someone to make their day that little bit better.”
