Rapiscan partnership to help secure Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

Security screening company Rapiscan Systems has become the latest sponsor of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

The partnership will see all physical security screening equipment needed at the Commonwealth Games Village and Games venues will be provided and installed by Rapiscan.

Operating in more than 100 countries worldwide, Rapiscan has supported a range of major sporting events in the past, including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The supplier exhibited its services and equipment, including x-ray machines and metal detection, at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre on yesterday (Thursday 23rd March), the venue at which the swimming and diving events for the multi-sport competition will take place next year.

Commenting on the partnership, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) Chairman, Peter Beattie stated “Rapiscan has had strong experience delivering security scanning solutions for previous Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and other major international sporting events.

“Importantly for fans, the products help to deliver a safe and secure environment while still allowing for efficient access to venues for patrons, athletes and officials in an unobtrusive manner.”
