Sapphire Coast to construct new multipurpose sports hall

A new multipurpose sports hall adjacent to the Sapphire Aquatic Centre at Pambula on the far south coast will commence construction this month.

Council’s Project Manager, Andrew Stewart advised “this building will provide much needed indoor sport and activity space for the Pambula Community Sporting Complex.

“The open floor area (20m x 10m), with its installation of moveable walls, will accommodate a wide range of sports and activities, including squash, group fitness, table tennis, gymnastics, dance classes, badminton, karate and other martial arts.

“While the building stage is planned to be completed by October it is hoped that, subject to COVID-19 impacts on building supplies, the specialist internal fit out will be finished for official opening by the end of the year.

“Access to the Aquatic Centre and the carpark will be maintained during construction and the building site will be organised to minimise inconvenience.”

Patrons to the Sapphire Aquatic Centre are advised to take care and keep clear of the works as they progress.
