Dubai Parks and Resorts set to launch new rides at Motiongate Dubai

Dubai Parks and Resorts has announced the impending launch of two new rides within its Lionsgate Zone at Motiongate Dubai as of 21st January.

The additions are the first rollercoaster in the world to be inspired by the hit film franchise John Wick, as well as the world’s fastest single-car spinning rollercoaster, which takes inspiration from the popular Now You See Me films.

Announced by Dubai Parks and Resorts’ owner Dubai Holding, the announcement of the launch date of the rides coincided with the release of plans for a new 250-room Legoland Hotel within the entertainment and theme park precinct.

With the launch of the two world-first new rides, Motiongate Dubai will now be the location of the largest collection of rollercoasters at any single theme park in the Middle East.

Commencing in 2014, the John Wick film franchise, starring Keanu Reeves, has seen the release of two successful sequels while John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently being filmed. Now You See Me features an all-star cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson and Isla Fisher as a team of illusionists who pull off heists.

Apart from the two new rollercoasters, Dubai Parks and Resorts will also become home to the region’s only Legoland Hotel, which will have 250 fully themed rooms.

In a statement, Dubai Holding Entertainment Chief Executive Officer, Fernando Eiroa advised “Dubai continues to be a leader in the travel and tourism sector, with a reputation for delivering pioneering projects and landmarks.

“The opening of the world’s first John Wick rollercoaster, the world’s fastest spinning rollercoaster and the region’s only LEGO themed hotel are an example of the breadth and diversity of entertainment experiences in Dubai. We are confident that these new offerings will contribute to further enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness as one of the leading international tourism destinations in the world.”

Dubai Parks and Resorts is home to three theme parks - Motiongate Dubai, Legoland Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai along with the Legoland Water Park.

Dubai Holding Entertainment is one of the largest diversified entertainment groups in the Middle East and Arabian Gulf region committed to developing Dubai as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.

It forms a strategic part of Dubai Holding as one of the four key market-leading companies of the Group. Dubai Holding Entertainment’s portfolio comprises Dubai’s leading leisure attractions, as well as media and entertainment platforms and venues such as Ain Dubai, Global Village, Dubai Parks and Resorts, ARN and Roxy Cinemas.
