Queensland’s live music sector recovery supported with latest round of funding
Round four of Queensland Government funding delivered through the Live Music Support Program is open until Monday 18th April 2022 for which COVID-impacted dedicated indoor live music venues in Queensland are encouraged to apply.
Queensland Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said this latest round of the Live Music Support Program backs local live music venues and supports their ongoing recovery following the impacts of COVID-19 for costs incurred from 1st October 2021 to 31st December 2021. The Program helps to offset operational costs for eligible venues, as well as programming and artist fees.
Minister Enoch added “The Live Music Support Program is supported by the additional $7 million announced in the 2021-22 State Budget to help stabilise our state’s live music industry.
“Since March 2020, our investment in Queensland’s live music sector has already delivered $13.7 million to 37 live music venues through the previous rounds of Live Music Support and through earlier support and project funding.”
Kris Stewart, Chief Executive, Qmusic, said many in the music industry called January their worst month in recent memory noting “the ongoing support of Queensland venues by the Queensland Government will ensure their survival, as confidence grows again in our audiences.”
Minister Enoch said the State Government had committed to more than $79 million in measures to support the arts sector since the onset of the pandemic, including the $22.5 million Arts and Cultural Recovery Package and a further $7 million to support the live music sector.
