Queensland indoor play centre sued for $1.4 million

A Queensland mother is seeking more than $1.4 million from a childrens' indoor play centre, claiming an accident at the facility - reportedly on a trampoline - left her debilitated by pain.

As broadcasted by Nine's A Current Affair this week, almost two years ago, Carlie Curtis took her toddler Amelia to the Crocs Playcentre in Underwood - a suburb of Logan in Greater Brisbane.

With Amelia wanting her mum to join her on the play equipment, Curtis asked a staff member whether it was allowed.

As reported by A Current Affair, Curtis recalled "he was like 'yeah, that's fine'. You know, 'parents can go anywhere'."

As a result, Curtis, who had given birth to her second child just weeks beforehand, tried the feature with her daughter.

Curtis advised "(I) went on, jumped, except when I landed, I had hit something, and I just, it was just like, time just stopped.

"I just felt the impact go all the way up my spine."

Curtis had hit a metal support bar, which later left her bedridden with pain.

After the accident, she says she struggled to hold her newborn her marriage fell apart.

Curtis advised "because of that incident, everything changed.

"My ability just to get up and tend to my crying baby was taken away from me."

Curtis is now suing Crocs Playcentre in the Supreme Court for loss and damages worth more than $1.4 million - a figure based on her ongoing pain and suffering, medical treatments and loss of income.

In a statement to A Current Affair, Croc's Playcentres acknowledged Carlie's allegation that she was injured at their Underwood venue, but said it would be inappropriate to speak about that claim while it is ongoing.

A Current Affair has previously reported a number of trampoline injuries including a 2014 investigation into injuries and the risk of participation.
