Quayclean's RAS Foundation scholarships awarded to Central West students

Quayclean Australia along with the Royal Agricultural Society Foundation, have announced Claudia Wilson from Orange and Monique Morgan from Trundle as two recipients of the RAS Foundation’s 2024 Rural Scholarship program.

Supporting regional and rural students from a diverse range of tertiary study and training pursuits, the scholarships assist students who are studying at a recognised University or TAFE and who have a desire to give back to regional NSW.

Quayclean is a proud supporter of the RAS Foundation’s scholarship program and is delighted to be assisting Wilson and Morgan with costs associated with their full-time studies.

The scholarship forms part of Quayclean’s long-term partnership with the Sydney Showgrounds where the company provides day-to-day and event cleaning, waste management and recycling services.

Wilson grew up on a beef cattle property and was surrounded by a range of animals which sparked a passion for working with animals in a rural area and a desire to become a veterinarian.

After completing high school in Orange, Wilson moved to Wagga Wagga to begin her studies at Charles Sturt University. She completed two years studying a Bachelor of Animal Science before successfully transferring into Veterinary Science. This year, she is commencing her fourth year.

Once Wilson graduates, she plans to work as a veterinarian in a rural town focusing on large animal medicine.

Morgan is studying a Bachelor of Nursing through Charles Sturt University at the Bathurst campus.

While growing up in Trundle, she gained first-hand experience of the physical and mental health inequities faced in rural and remote areas.

Morgan is currently in her third and final year of study and when she graduates, she wishes to return to rural NSW to address the health inequities in small communities and provide positive health impacts to those in need.

RAS Foundation Manager, Cecilia Logan, said the scholarship program aims to build strong, vibrant, and resilient regional and rural communities and enhance skills availability by helping to enable post high school education and training for rural NSW students.

Logan advised “The RASF Rural Scholarships provide financial assistance for students who demonstrate a passion for rural issues and opportunities and who are committed to playing a part in shaping the future of rural and regional NSW.

 “These students may be of any age undertaking full time, part-time or external tertiary study or training and the scholarships are designed to assist with accommodation, textbooks or income and allow them to focus on their studies.”

Quayclean Chief Executive, Mark Piwkowski, congratulated Claudia and Monique on their scholarships and added “through the wonderful work of our teams at the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show, we have witnessed first-hand the wonderful contribution of regional men and women make to NSW and Australia.

“We are honoured to partner with the RAS Foundation to assist Claudia and Monique with their tertiary education studies and allow them to give back and help shape regional and rural NSW communities.”
