Pro Bounce and more overcomes naming hurdle to open in Nelson
A new trampoline park, Pro Bounce and more, has opened in the Tasman Bay town of Nelson.
Located at Pro Karts in Tahuna next to the Nelson Fun Park, with its mini golf, bumper boats, megaslide, hydroslide (waterslide) and go karts, the South Island town’s first trampoline park has to battle a series of legal hurdles to open.
As reported by Fairfax NZ, a legal threat over the name originally planned for the facility - Jump, Bounce and More - led to owner Nick Fowler having to delay his originally planned opening.
Fowler was intending to open the multi-purpose, outdoor trampoline park under the original name, in February.
However, Fowler said he was contacted by lawyers representing a trampoline business in Auckland in early February.
He was told that the Auckland company owned the trademark for the word ‘jump’ and, therefore, Fowler couldn't use the word for his business.
Fowler said he could have challenged the Auckland company, but it would have cost him money than re-branding.
Instead, he reached out to the trampoline park's fans on Facebook to choose a new name, which is how he decided on Pro Bounce and More.
The 700 metre² trampoline park features 52 trampolines, a dodge ball area, slam dunk court, bungy trampoline, air bag pit and free jump area.
Fowler told Fairfax NZ “there's a bit of everything, really. We've tried to tick all the boxes that a trampoline park has and we think we've done a pretty good job.”
