New owners for Nelson Fun Park
The Nelson Fun Park in the Tasman Bay town of Nelson has new owners.
Michele and Jason Lee, owners of the Megaslide attraction that sits adjacent to the Nelson Fun Park, took over the Fun Park on 1st July.
The previous owners, Vivienne and Tom Mexted, who had been running the business for 14 years, put the business, which is privately owned but operated on Nelson City Council land, up for sale last year.
Located at Tahunanui Beach, the Fun Park offers a waterslide/hydroslide, bumper boats and mini golf.
Meanwhile, the Lees have now put the Megaslide on the market and are negotiating with a prospective new owner.
Nelson City Council is also looking into the future of the Natureland wildlife attraction, which, along with the Nelson Fun Park and Megalside, is located on reserve land at Tahunanui Beach.
Last year, the Orana Wildlife Trust that runs Natureland announced it was pulling out of managing the attraction, leading to the Council asking for expressions of interest to run the attraction.
The Christchurch-based Trust, which has run Natureland since 2008, decided to exit the attraction as a result of hardship in the wake of the earthquakes.
Council staff are believed to be working with three tenderers to develop a future management arrangement for Natureland.
