Port Hedland parks to turn into Fantasy Playgrounds

Port Hedland’s Kevin Scott Oval and McGregor Street Reserve will be transformed into 24-hour digital fantasy lands next week in celebration of 2018 Parks Week.

Running from Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th March Parks Week raises awareness on the value of parks and open spaces, to get people out of their living rooms and to enjoy the outdoors.

Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco said that he is excited to see the community out and about, enjoying these two fantastic spaces and the virtual realities adapted to fit them.

Mayor Blanco explained “for this year’s Parks Week we will be pairing up with the app Magical Park to create a digital fantasy playground in each of the locations.

“Kids are spending more time using smartphones and tablets than ever, and this app creates an opportunity for them to get moving while using these devices.

“Here in Port Hedland we are lucky enough to have an abundance of fantastic open spaces, and I encourage everyone in the community to get outside and enjoy these in the alternative format on offer this Parks Week.”

Magical Park is available for download on Google Playstore or the App Store.
