Popular Victorian Squash Centre to re-open
The eight court Knox Park Squash and Racquetball Centre in the Melbourne suburb of Bayswater is to re-open at the end of this month following a total refurbishment of the venue.
With Westerfolds Sports Centre Owner and Director Olivia Coles recently advised “our company had recently secured the lease for the Knox centre and works had already commenced so as to meet its end of August re-opening target date.”
Coles added “my family has been heavily involved in the squash industry for over three decades and I am honoured and extremely excited to have the opportunity to be returning an iconic centre to the heartland of eastern suburbs squash and racquetball.
“Our plan is to provide a new management team and a fresh start for the Knox Squash Centre, and following our opening I would like to personally invite all past Knox Squash and Racquetball Centre and Club players to come in and meet our new team, plus check out for themselves our refurbished facility.”
Eastern Suburbs Racquetball Association (ESRA) President Ian Chalmers is delighted with the new management, stating “I am excited that an existing court owner has taken the decision to open another centre in the eastern suburbs and I call upon past and present Knox players to support this outstanding initiative.
“This decision enables ESRA to continue to stage its flagship event, the ESRA Open Racquetball Championships, held annually in February, at its historic home, plus on 27th August the centre will once again host the ESRA AGM; which will provide a great opportunity for our members to see firsthand the completed refurbishment.”
Australian Racquetball Manager Paul Vear added “the Westerfolds Sports Centre has made huge investments into the sports of squash and racquetball, is widely acclaimed as one of Australia’s top squash and racquetball venues, plus is very well known for its excellent service and understanding of our player’s requirements.”
