PLAWA releases Community Facility Guidelines resources
Parks and Leisure Australia Western Australia (PLAWA) has announced the release of the first resources from its Community Facility Guidelines project brought together to assist industry practitioners with the strategic planning and development of public open space and sport and recreation facilities.
The first three resources in this project: WA Guidelines for Community Infrastructure 2020; WA Community Facility Guidelines Report: High level public open space and sports on public open space data review, Perth Peel 2020; and the WA Community Facility Guidelines Mapping Portal for Perth Peel 2020 can be downloaded from the PLAWA website.
WA Guidelines for Community Infrastructure 2020
Produced as a guide for future facility planning, the Guidelines publication supersedes the draft 2012 Guidelines and is to be used at a high level along with a number of other strategic planning tools and local knowledge, to assist in understanding specific facility infrastructure need.
WA Community Facility Guidelines Report: High level public open space and sports on public open space data review, Perth Peel 2020
This summary report analyses the public open space, outdoor sport and sport centre information collected and assessed for the 2020 phase of the PLAWA Community Facility Guidelines project. The report offers a present point in time evaluation of facility provision and accessibility in the Perth and Peel region, bringing a contemporary assessment of requirements based on trends and patterns in facility provision, participation in physical pursuits and community behaviours. It is a high-level strategic snapshot of supply and demand for community facility provision and should be considered in conjunction with the Community Facility Guidelines Mapping Portal for Perth and Peel 2020 to understand the spatial analysis within the report.
WA Community Facility Guidelines Mapping Portal for Perth Peel 2020
The mapping presented in this portal represents the information collected and assessed for the 2020 phase of the PLAWA Community Facility Guidelines project. Data collected from 32 Perth and Peel region local governments includes 29 public open space, sport and recreation facility types available to the public. The mapping shows more than 4500 public open space sites, sports fields and pitches for seven major sports, over 600 sport and recreation facilities across 14 types and catchments displaying access to the spaces and facilities (via road networks).
