Planet Fitness Australia partners with bullying prevention charity Bully Zero
To mark this National Bullying Prevention Week (11th –17th August), Planet Fitness Australia and leading bullying prevention charity Bully Zero are launching a week-long initiative – The Purple Power Walk, as part of a multi-year national partnership.
The Purple Power Walk is a nationwide initiative aiming to raise awareness about bullying, while fostering a culture of kindness and inclusion.
This National Bullying Prevention Week, Planet Fitness and Bully Zero are urging Australians to lace up their runners and take a step – literally – towards ending bullying in Australia.
Across the week, all Planet Fitness clubs across the country will transform into hubs of action – where members and guests are invited to walk or run on treadmills at any Planet Fitness club, with the shared goal of reaching 100,000 kilometres in just seven days.
With more than 500 participants already registered and over $300 raised, momentum is building. Now, Australians are being called on to show up, and walk or run in solidarity with the 1 in 4 young people impacted by bullying across schools every week.
Through its bullying prevention programs, Bully Zero provides face-to-face education across schools, workplaces and communities, helping people understand bullying, build resilience and become empowered to create positive change.
Danielle Monroy, Managing Director at Planet Fitness Australia said the team is proud to partner with Bully Zero to take real action on something that matters to create safer more inclusive communities.
Monroy noted “this is more than a challenge – it’s a movement. The partnership reflects our commitment to upholding a culture of inclusivity and self-empowerment. The Purple Power Walk is our chance to show up, stand together, and walk for the one in four young Australians affected by bullying. If you’re near a Planet Fitness club, drop in and walk with us. However far you go, every step counts towards a kinder Australia.”
Planet Fitness believes in making everyone feel accepted and respected and is calling on Australians to turn treadmills into tools for change.
Josh Muriwai, Head of Operations at Planet Fitness added “we invite everyone to get involved as a fun way to support bullying prevention during this vital week of action. It’s free to register, open to both Members and the public aged 13 and over, with plenty of Prizes up for grabs – including the top ten participants winning a 12 month Planet Fitness Black Card membership.”
Bullying prevention starts with awareness and action. So grab a friend, hit the treadmill, and walk toward a kinder, safer future for every Australian.
