Planet Fitness opens first Queensland gym

Planet Fitness has opened its first facility in Queensland, at Morayfield north of Brisbane, with Tanner Halton, Chief Executive of Bravo Fit Australia, the joint venture company developing  the group's future sites planning to launch two further clubs in greater Brisbane in the coming months.

Having launched in Australia in late 2019, entering the market with the offering of $5 a week memberships, the new gym marks the group's expansion outside of NSW.

As reported by the Caboolture Shire Herald, the new 24/7 gym offers more than 200 pieces of equipment as well as spray tans, HydroMassage, massage chairs and red light therapy in its premium membership package.

Introducing the new facility, Halton stated “our focus is on that first-time gym user.

“We’re there to make it a friendly place where the everyday Australians can go to get fit,” he said.

The club’s membership starts at just $5 a week which gives members unlimited access to the club.

With Halton advising that he hopes the brand would have five or six facilities open in Queensland in the next year, the group’s next club will open in Rothwell in April 2021.

Halton said Townsville, the Gold Coast and Chermside were had also been pinpointed for gyms in the future.

Cairns has also welcomed a new 12RND gym on its northern beaches.

The new 12RND facility at Clifton Beach is owned by Cairns Taipans Strength and Conditioning Coach Riley Mecela.
