Perth Concert Hall to shine after light fittings overhaul
The Perth Concert Hall has had a light fittings makeover as part of City of Perth’s planned multi-million dollar lighting focused overhaul.
The City spent $715,000 replacing 144 light fixtures inside the Heritage building during December and January.
The City is also set to spend $3.1 million on a Council House exterior lighting overhaul, to replace a system installed in 2009 that is now faulty, with 175 lighting units out of operation.
A City spokesman said the Perth Concert Hall facade required an upgrade because it had “reached the end of its useful life”.
He said the existing Auditorium House lighting fixtures were replaced with new LED colour lighting, mounted within the heritage timber ceiling and the exterior facade lighting was also upgraded with LED gobo projectors with individual programming.
The spokesman advised “the new digital lighting control system will allow for the control of the new LED lighting, and the retained incandescent lights.”
“The new lighting control system will provide greater energy efficiency to the heritage building.”
The $4.5 million Perth Concert Hall was designed by Jeffrey Howlett and Don Bailey and was opened on Australia Day in 1973.
