PerfectGym’s native app succeeds with mobile first approach

Leading industry software platform PerfectGym has highlighted the successful rollout of its PerfectGym app, which allows operators to offer clients a downloadable personalised mobile app from both the Apple and Google Play stores.

The app is custom branded, seamlessly connected to clients’ PerfectGym database, and as such is able to act as a natural extension to PerfectGyms software suite.

Delivered for both iOS and Android, PerfectGym first released their branded Mobile app in early 2019, and has since that time been widely adopted by both health club chains, independent gyms and council aquatic and recreation facilities alike.

PerfectGym Country Manager, Matt Inglis explains “PerfectGym was the first, and is still the only leisure management software servicing the Australian and New Zealand aquatic, recreation and leisure industry, with a wholly owned, designed and developed branded, native Mobile App.”

For members, the app this means one simple username and password to remember for all PerfectGym customer facing offerings such as the branded mobile responsive customer portal; the ability to book or cancel classes, with a single button click; utilise a QR code for entry via POS or turnstiles, update and purchase products and memberships; and receive push notifications of promotions from waitlists.

For clients such as aquatic and recreation centres, it gives the ability to offer multiple mobile first booking and member self-management options, in addition to further communication channels to inform members of failed payments, class bookings, waitlists, expiring products and ending of suspensions.

The City of Monash /ActiveMonash included the PerfectGym branded mobile app in their digital transformation strategy with PerfectGym, in conjunction with a branded mobile responsive ClientPortal and Self Service Kiosk offering to the member base.

This gave the choice of multiple booking methods to a diverse client base; with those without smartphones having the ability to use the online portal to book; and those without easy access to either a smartphone or online portal the ability to book via self service kiosks in each facility.

As a snapshot, the month of January 2023, saw 50% of bookings via portal, 35% via Mobile App, and 15% via in facility self service kiosks.

QR scanning via the mobile app also allows members to carry only their phone to classes, with simple scanning at each Group Fitness door, giving ActiveMonash valuable class statistics in addition to verifying class participants and correct class enrolments.

Commenting on the apps’ success, Inglis added “we have seen a significant uptake in our branded mobile app over the last few years, as bookings for classes and gym spaces became mandatory post covid; with the restrictions having been lifted, the vast majority of clients have continued to utilise the app for both member satisfaction; mostly fuelled by choice, and not being stuck with a single method or choice of booking, in addition to the powerful stats and positive member experience that is possible.”
