Peloton to expand into Westfield Mall retail space
Interactive fitness platform, Peloton, has announced it will be opening its first showroom in Australia on 13th October in the prominent Sydney location of Westfield Bondi Junction offering customers personalised product walkthroughs and live demonstration from a Peloton Expert.
This premier retail presence will soon be followed by a standalone showroom in Sydney’s Martin Place, also set to open in the coming weeks.
The choice of location for Peloton’s first showrooms reflects the changing shape of traditional shopping and retail in Australia. The showrooms will provide consumers with a community hub to experience Peloton’s suite of connected fitness products including the Peloton Bike and Peloton Bike+, with Australians also able to shop its private label apparel brand, Peloton Apparel.
Commenting on the newest edition to Westfield Bondi Junction, Scentre Group Director Leasing and Retail Solutions, John Papagiannis notes “delivering sought-after, innovative brands and extraordinary retail experiences is how we consistently attract more customers to our Living Centre destinations. Many customers will be able to experience the Peloton brand in a premium, physical retail environment for the first time, which is really exciting and something our Westfield Bondi Junction customers are really looking forward to. We’re proud Peloton has chosen Westfield Bondi Junction as their first Sydney location and are counting down to the store’s grand opening in just a few days’ time.”
With Peloton having undertaken an extensive media campaign over recent months, Peloton Australia Country Manager, Karen Lawson advises “we’re excited to open our flagship Australian showrooms in Westfield Bondi Junction followed by Martin Place, which will allow even more Aussies to try Peloton’s products in person and get involved with our global community.
“This new physical footprint illustrates our commitment to Australia and our members, locally and abroad. We are excited to offer Australians a unique combination of best-in-class hardware, software, content and community; and these new retail showrooms are a great way to learn more about the brand and a completely new way to work out.”
Westfield Bondi Junction boasts a retail destination not far from the beach, with the 300 square metre showroom including an 80 square metre mezzanine with three private trial rooms to experience Bike and Bike+. There are two entrances, one from the Westfield shopping centre and one from Oxford Street offering easy access to the train station and bus stops. Both showrooms will be available for in-person appointments, bookable online as well as in-person.
Also coming soon is Peloton’s second Sydney showroom in Martin Place - a central location close to Sydney’s financial and business districts. Set over one floor, the 264 square metre Martin Place space will incorporate three private trial rooms, as well as a main area set up for personalised demonstrations which includes six Bike+ and four Bikes.
The private trial rooms are located on the ground floor along with a changing room, boutique shower and separate toilet for use by customers who take a private trial, with personal lockers to securely store their belongings while they work out.
Virtual appointments
For those who prefer to meet the showroom team virtually, both Martin Place and Westfield Bondi Junction will offer virtual appointments. During these appointments, which are hosted via video conference, Peloton Experts will provide a personalised demonstration of the Peloton Bike or Bike+, based on the customer’s interests, and answer any questions they may have about Peloton. Both in-person and virtual appointments will be bookable online via; Bondi Junction and Martin Place.
Australians will be able to purchase the Peloton Bike and the Peloton Bike+ at the new showrooms, online, or via our Inside Sales team who can be reached through a dedicated chatbot on the Peloton website.
The Peloton Bike and Bike+ will cost $2,295 and $3,695 respectively. The All-Access Membership, which enables Members to access Peloton content using the Peloton Bike or Peloton Bike+ and create accounts for the entire household, will be $59 per month. The Peloton App, which hosts an expansive library of content that requires no Peloton equipment, is included with the All-Access Membership. A standalone App Membership is available for use by one person for $16.99 which gives access to the thousands of live and on-demand classes via the Peloton App.
