Technogym equips 25 training centres for Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Technogym as the official and exclusive supplier of fitness equipment and digital technologies for the athletes’ training and preparation during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has equipped 25 training centres with over 1500 pieces of equipment.

The equipment has been made available to the 15,000 athletes - between Olympic and Paralympic, coming from over 200 different countries and performing in 33 different disciplines. Moreover, Technogym has provided a team of professional athletic trainers to support the athletes as well as all related services (gym layout, installation and technical service).

For Technogym, internationally recognised for setting the standard in athletic training, rehabilitation and wellness, Tokyo 2020 represents the 8th Olympic experience after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Pyeongchang 2018.

The main training centre for the athletes is at the Olympic Village located in the Harumi waterfront district of Tokyo featuring different training solutions – that combine Technogym’s equipment and digital technologies - to cover the athletic preparation needs of different disciplines such as SKILL LINE, the product range specifically designed for sport performance training.

The range includes SKILLRUN, the state of the art treadmill, SKILLROW, the professional rower, SKILLMILL the functional non-motorised curved treadmill to train speed and power at the same time and SKILLBIKE, the first indoor bike with real gear that allows athletes to train strength and endurance as well as maximising efficiency.

Other training centres, specifically designed around the needs of the different sport disciplines, are located at competition venues including the Ariake Tennis Park, the historical Yoyogi National Stadium, the Edogawa track & field stadium, the Fukushima Azuma Stadium, the Olympic Sailing Village in Oiso-cho, Kanagawa and the Shuzenji Cycling Village in Izu and the Tokyo Stadium among others.

Australian swimmer Cate Campbell is among the many young athletes who have trained for the Olympics with Technogym products and digital solutions at hundreds of sports centres all over the world. From Illinois, US there is the triathlete Ben Kanute, while other athletes include Oliver Zeidler, rower from Germany, Vincent Luis, triathlete from France, the swimmer Marlou van Rhijn, the track and field athlete Dafne Schippers, the judokas Juul Franssen and Noël van 't End from Holland; Morgan Lake, heptathlete from team GB and the rower Sid Ali Boudina from Algeria. The cyclist Yuta Wakimoto and the tennis player Kei Nishikori will play at home, ready to defend the honour of the land of the Rising Sun in front of their compatriots.

From Italy, five young athletes include Leonardo Fioravanti, participating in the new Olympic sport of surfing, Letizia Paternoster for cycling, Yeman Crippa, middle distance for team Italy, the young tennis champion Jannik Sinner and the cyclist Elia Viviani.
