Plus Fitness 24/7 forms retail alliance with Costco Wholesale
Costco Wholesale, the world's seventh largest retailer with 602 warehouses globally and which generates over 1.9 million transactions per day, has joined forces with Plus Fitness 24/7 as part of launching their 'Ticketed Item' sales in Australia.
With gym memberships making up 24% of all Ticketed Item sales in the USA, this is a first for the fitness industry in Australia as well as the Australian retail industry.
Explaining the development Plus Fitness Franchisor Nigel Miller stated "to align ourselves with such a major player in the retail space is exciting for our brand and to be the first chain of gyms in Australia to have its memberships sold in a true retail environment is also very exciting.
"This retail strategy has enabled us to open up our membership sales and expose our brand to a whole new market which is of great benefit to our franchisees."
Since the program launched on 17th January, Costco customers have been able to purchase their Plus Fitness 24/7 gym membership in store, then simply take this to their closest Plus Fitness 24/7 to activate it.
As a result, sales of Plus Fitness 24/7 memberships at Costco Wholesale stores in Australia are already exceeding expectations.
