Paris Olympic and Paralympics athletes, coaches and officials among 2024 NSW Sports Awards finalists

The 2024 NSW Sports Awards have been announced by Sport NSW with strong representation from Paris Olympic and Paralympics athletes, coaches and officials.

The 2024 NSW Sports Awards are the highest sports honours in NSW and the 12 category winners will be revealed at the prestigious NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony at The Star Event Centre, Pyrmont on Monday, 25th November.

The Ceremony, attended by the elite of NSW sport, celebrate the achievements of NSW athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and organisations over the past 12 months.

The Ceremony will also celebrate five NSW sports greats inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions. They are Suzy Batkovic (Basketball), Alex Blackwell (Cricket), Murray Braund (Surf Lifesaving), Pattie Dench (Sport Pistol) and Tim Gavin (Rugby Union).

Sydney Swans AFL great, Paul Kelly, will be elevated to Legend status in the Hall of Champions.

In a 12-month period which was highlighted by Australia’s successes at the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, NSW athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and sport organisations have led the way in helping realise Australia’s achievements at the Paris Games and have provided a pivotal springboard towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Sport NSW Chief Executive, Stuart Hodge, congratulated all 64 finalists across the 12 Award categories and said the standard of performances were exceptional.

Hodge noted “An Olympic and Paralympic year inspires everyone to aim high and chase their dreams whether they are an athlete, coach, official or administrator.

“It is their collective efforts which motivate a nation of passionate sports lovers of all ages and abilities to dive into the pool, run around the block, shoot a basket, or jump onto a bike and enjoy the health, social and community benefits sport provides.

“The quality of Award category submissions this year highlighted the extraordinary depth and breadth of sport in NSW.

“These worthy finalists in each Award category have excelled at the highest levels and they join an illustrious alumni of great NSW Sports Awards finalists who have served themselves, their sport and the state with distinction.”
