Orangetheory fitness to open first Australian studios

Fast-growing group personal training studio Orangetheory® Fitness is set to open its first Australian fitness facility at Sydney’s Bondi Junction with two additional sites – at Hawthorn in South Australia and Aspley in Queensland to follow.

The 60-minute heart rate monitored, high intensity, group interval training concept has helped tens of thousands of members across America, Canada and the UK lose weight, get toned and meet their overall fitness goals in a short amount of time.

The Orangetheory Fitness workout is broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training, using a variety of equipment including treadmills, water rowers, TRX suspension training and free weights but the real secret is the heart rate monitoring system designed exclusively for OrangeTheory Fitness.

Backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), Orangetheory’s one of a kind five-zone heart rate monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism, increases calorie burn, and boosts weight loss for up to 24 to 36 hours post-workout.

Orangetheory Fitness founder Ellen Latham explains “monitoring your heart rate is key to ensuring that you hit the right zones you need for EPOC to kick in.

"All of our routines come from our corporate physiology department.

"Experts with the highest levels of education and certification are creating them to increase your endurance, strength, and power.

In 2014, Orangetheory Fitness nearly doubled its footprint with 99 new studios across the USA. In addition to its Australian announcement, Orangetheory Fitness recently entered into New York City, USA, as well as opening its first studio location in Bogotá, Colombia. Furthermore, the company signed more than 200 franchise agreements in 2014 and is on track to open an additional 150 locations by the end of 2015.

Orangetheory Fitness Chief Executive Dave Long adds “it’s incredible that in just five years we’ve been able to muscle our way into the highly competitive Australian market.

“It all started in 2010 with a single Fort Lauderdale studio, and we are now an international brand with demand for Orangetheory Fitness studios growing each day.

“Our explosive growth both domestically and internationally has been fuelled by our unique workout solution, and a successful franchise business model. We look forward to continued growth and expansion into even more new markets in 2015.”

Today, Orangetheory Fitness has become one of the USA’s top fitness franchises, with nearly 200 studios in 28 states. In addition to the recent international location in South America, the brand also currently has studios in Canada and the UK, making Australia the fifth country to join the ranks.

Membership packages are available now at discounted pre-opening rates; customers who become foundation members can save up to 20% and lock in these discounted prices for the entire duration of the membership.

Steve Jensen, recently recognised by the Australian Fitness Network with a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award, is Chairman of Orangetheory Fitness Australia.
