One Netball Community Awards to recognise local champions

Wanting to recognise and reward individuals, clubs and associations who are making the sport of netball more inclusive, Netball Australia and Australia Post have launched the Australia Post One Netball Community Awards.

Launched this week, the Awards aim to highlight the champions of change across the Australian netball community who go above and beyond to welcome everyone to the sport they love.

Netball Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer said netball is fortunate to have a large community of passionate coaches, umpires, players and volunteers around the country who are helping to strengthen their communities through inclusive practices.

Palmer explained “the Australia Post One Netball Community Awards are a wonderful way to support the work of individuals, Clubs and Associations who are making netball communities more inclusive."

Kimberlee Green, Australian Diamonds star and Australia Post One Netball Ambassador said the Awards are about celebrating local champions who share their love of netball with everyone and welcoming new faces into their clubhouses.

Green stated “netball clubs and associations are the lifeblood of local communities, filled with passionate people promoting our sport and making it inclusive for everyone to take part, irrespective of their skill level, ability or background.

“The One Netball Community Awards will recognise these people from the sidelines to the centre circle and share their stories to inspire others to support more inclusive netball environments.”

Winners will receive a $500 Australia Post Load & Go gift card for personal use, $1,000 worth of Australia Post Load & Go gift cards for their netball club or Association, a signed netball from the 2014 Australian Commonwealth Games Netball Team and a visit from an Australia Post One Netball Ambassador to their Club or Association.

Nominations close on Sunday 21st September with the winners to be announced on Monday 13th October.

Nominations should be submitted to www.onenetball.org.au
