NTMEC highlights two weeks remaining to enter national swimming competition

The 2024 Masters Swimming Australia National Championships will this year be held in Darwin from 3rd-7th May.

The event is supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) Event Funding Program with NTMEC highlighting that two weeks remain for people to enter, with those thinking about participating encouraged to take the plunge.

NTMEC Chief Executive Suzana Bishop enthused “The Masters Swimming Australia National Championships is a great opportunity for competitors from outside of Darwin to explore all the Top End has to offer, from cultural experiences, to swimming under waterfalls at Litchfield National Park.”

Some of the best swimmers from Australia and the world will descend on Darwin fo the swimming event.

Athletes of all abilities aged over 18 can participate with locals expected to be tough opponents in the pool.

There are a range of categories for swimmers to enter including an open water race which will take place on Tuesday 7th May at Darwin Waterfront. The remainder of the events will be at Parap Pool, which is free for spectators to attend.

There are no qualifying times for entrants, with the aim of the competition to be fun and inclusive.

Entries close for individual events at midday 19th April and for relay events at midday 26th April.

2024 Masters Swimming Australia National Championships Convenor Neil Ludvigsen adds "We are delighted to be soon hosting the 2024 Masters Swimming Australia National Championships right here in Darwin, where the water’s always warm and the champions train.

"We have swimmers of all ages (18+) and abilities competing in this world-class event and Northern Territory competitors are looking forward to making a splash after months of training by our experienced coaches at Parap Pool.

"The nationals are a great celebration of Masters Swimming in Australia, whose motto is fitness, friendship and fun."
