Greater Shepparton secures Softball Victoria Masters Championships

Greater Shepparton City Council has advised that Softball Victoria will return to Greater Shepparton for the 2023 Masters Championships with the event being held from 10th to 12th June 2023 at the Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.

To facilitate the matches, 10 softball diamonds will be set up at the Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.

A total of 38 teams will see players travel from Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania to take part in what marks the 25th edition of the tournament.

With approximately 600 players and officials, additional support crew and spectators, the event is expected to inject around $1 million dollars into the local economy.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Shane Sali, said it is wonderful to host the Softball Victoria Masters Championships in the region for the seventh time and shared “these events strengthen our reputation as a leading sporting and events capital of regional Australia, while keeping our local economy strong and businesses thriving.

“We are looking forward to welcoming players, officials and spectators to Greater Shepparton for the Championships.”

Following the announcement, Softball Victoria State Operations Manager Justin Zelones added “we are pleased to be able to work with the Greater Shepparton City Council to provide such a great location to our members for this tournament, which is a ‘must do’ for Masters softballers. Likewise, we are very happy the tournament gives a boost to local businesses coupled with the local non-profit organisations who will be assisting to support the event.”
