Northern Territory’s Freds Pass Rural Show to offer interactive experiences and exhibitions

The Northern Territory’s popular Freds Pass Rural Show will be held 27th to 28th May at a new location and with a vast range of interactive experiences, exhibitions and competitions.

The event is supported by Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC), the Community Benefit Fund, and Sport, Recreation and Strategic Infrastructure via the NT Show Council Inc.

The Show will be set in the shady parklands around Freds Pass Reserve Lake and is the place where urban meets rural - including equestrian events, livestock judging, animal displays, petting zoo, live performances, cooking demonstrations, and art and craft competitions.

In addition, there will be wood chopping, market garden produce, a grand parade, music talent quests, a classic car show and more.

‘Foodies’ will be well catered for with the 50km Feast, a gala dining experience set under the stars, kicking off festivities on Friday, 26th May. Featuring celebrity chef Paul ‘Yoda’ Iskov, diners will be taken on an extraordinary culinary journey using local produce and Indigenous ingredients, while enjoying entertainment from singer, showgirl and comedian Constantina Bush.

The popular Paddock to Plate also returns this year, with local food preparation, tastings and workshops.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy an incredible line up of entertainment at the Main Stage on Saturday, including ‘mini moshers’ RIFF & RAFF in Pass the Rock, local legend Mick’s Whips, headline act The Neil Diamond Tribute and a memorable fireworks display. On Sunday, picnic on the lawn to Stereobate and a classic playlist.

NTMEC Chief Executive Suzana Bishop notes “The Freds Pass Rural Show is a premium community event in the Darwin rural area. It has been a staple in the lives of many Territorians for years, and its mix of urban meets rural makes it unlike any other show. Make sure you get in early and snap up a ticket now.

“Supporting events like this helps provide opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate all that is great about where they live, while boosting the local economy.”

Freds Pass Rural Show Chair, Shirley Preston adds “for over 40 years Territorians have sampled a unique slice of rural life at the iconic Freds Pass Rural Show.

“In 2023 this community show will once again delight visitors with a vast array of vibrant entertainment, products and exhibits, competitions and interactive events.”
