Northern Territory Major Events Company places sixth in global events top 100

The Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) has placed sixth in the prestigious Eventex Awards Top 100 Event Organisers and Agencies for 2023.

The accolade comes after NTMEC events took out 10 awards at the 2023 Eventex Awards. Parrtjima – A Festival in Light 2022 received six awards, while BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival 2022 and the Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round 2022 both received two each.

NTMEC climbed the ladder from ninth place in last year’s Top 100 and is the only Australian company to make the Top 10. Only three Australian companies made the Top 100. The highly anticipated list of global event organisations recognises consistent excellence in the global international events industry.

NTMEC Chief Executive Suzana Bishop said the awards are testament to what events can achieve for a community, and the people who go above and beyond to deliver incredible events.

Bishop shared “to see the Northern Territory appearing in not just the global Top 100, but the global Top 10, is incredible.

“The Northern Territory might be a small jurisdiction, but our events industry delivers huge benefits, ranging from economic to social. To be recognised for this on an international stage alongside some of the world’s leading events companies and agencies is fantastic.

“Recognition like this exposes the Territory’s events industry to prospective new partnerships and collaborations, which helps us keep evolving and changing.”

Parrtjima was recognised as best overall Australian/Oceanian Event (Platinum), best Outdoor Event (Gold), best Public Event (Gold), best Local Solution Event (Gold), best Positive Change Event (Gold) and best Cultural Event (Silver). BASSINTHEGRASS was awarded best Festival (Bronze) and best Australian/Oceanian Event (Bronze). Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round received best Cultural Event (Bronze) and best Positive Change Event (Bronze).

The three events generated a total expenditure stimulus of $58.9 million, $44.3 million of which was new money to the Territory.

NTMEC has been delivering award-winning events from the Top End to the Red Centre since 1999. As the front door for the Territory’s events industry, NTMEC also works with multiple event partners to support a range of events Territory-wide.
