New team member at Exhibition Park in Canberra

Matthew Sutherland has been being appointed as Senior Venue Operations Manager at Exhibition Park in Canberra.

Indentified as being an "up and coming" venue industry talent, Sutherland has a solid background in the venue and events industry including a multitude of roles in government, private and public entities, working across all facets of venue and event management.

Explaining the appointment, Exhibition Park General Manager Liz Clarke stated thatSutherland's strong focus on safety and risk management will make him a valuable asset to Exhibition Park, highlighting that "with the introduction of Workplace Health and Safety Harmonisation last year we identified a need to increase our resources in this area at a senior management level.

"The role is a big challenge for anyone to take on and we are pleased that Matthew is joining us, bringing with him both enthusiasm and experience."

Sutherland will be making the move to Canberra from Hunter Venues, where he has held the position of Event and Operations Manager since 2011.

He explained "I am excited for the opportunity to sink my teeth into a new project and help build a Canberra institution."

He will commence his role mid-February.

Exhibition Park in Canberra hosts more than 300 events on their annual calendar and this continues to grow each year.
