New naming for Geelong basketball stadium

A key location for basketball in the greater Geelong and Bellarine region is now known by a new name, following the merger of its namesake sponsor in recent weeks.

Following AWA Alliance Bank’s merger with Beyond Bank, the AWA Alliance Bank Stadium in Belmont has now taken on a new identity as the Beyond Bank Stadium, reflecting AWA Alliance Bank’s merger with Beyond Bank.

Announcing the new name, a spokesperson for Geelong United Basketball (GUB) said the association was thrilled to announce the name for the stadium, noting “this new chapter not only marks a significant partnership, but also brings a fresh, vibrant look to the stadium.

“Expect to see the bold and energetic purple of Beyond Bank across the venue, symbolising a renewed spirit of community and progress.”

Advising that Beyond Bank’s commitment to supporting local sports and fostering growth in the region remains “unwavering”, Beyond Bank Geelong Community Development Manager, Cameron Murnane stated “we’re delighted to continue to partner with Geelong United Basketball to continue making a positive impact in the community.

“We recognise the importance of sport and its place in our local community. We know that sporting clubs are where people come together to connect and participate, which leads to stronger, healthier, and safer communities.”

GUB will resume domestic competitions from today (Monday 7th October) with the venue already fully rebranded.

The venue welcomes thousands of junior and senior basketballers through its doors each week for domestic competitions and training
