New name for popular Christchurch Arena
Home-building company Horncastle Homes has secured naming rights to Christchurch's biggest indoor arena and will work with Vbase to promote the venue.
Following the signing of a five-year agreement between Horncastle Homes and Vbase, the former CBS Canterbury Arena in Addington has been renamed Horncastle Arena.
The name change marks the start of a new alliance between the two Christchurch companies that promises to bring great benefits to the city, the community, and the Canterbury region.
Introducing the new naming rights deal, Vbase General Manager Darren Burden explained “the values of Horncastle Homes are a perfect fit with Vbase's long-term goals and vision for the arena.
“Like Vbase, Horncastle Homes is a company with a focus on the local community and its people.
"The arena has always been a venue for local sporting, charitable and cultural organisations too, and our partnership with Horncastle Homes will help foster this.
"We see Horncastle as more than a naming rights sponsor. Together we are launching a relationship that will see the arena reach its full potential.
"It's about growing and developing the facility for future generations, and attracting even more great events that bring further economic, social and cultural benefits."
The Horncastle Arena is Christchurch's largest purpose-built indoor sports and entertainment venue. More than 250,000 people attend around 100 events there every year.
Burden adds "Cantabrians flock to the venue for world-class concerts and exhibitions, and many of the world's leading artists and sports teams have played here, attracting fans from throughout the country. It is fitting this important Canterbury 'home' is named after a well-recognised home building company, Horncastle Homes.”
Horncastle Arena has 4,000 metres2 of flat floor space and a concert seating capacity of almost 9,000 that can be configured to suit smaller audiences when required. The 18 corporate suites are used for smaller day meetings and corporate hospitality at ticketed events.
Some of the upcoming events at Horncastle Arena include a major Disney on Ice production, followed by Bob Dylan and his band, the SkyCity Breakers and the Dire Straits Experience.
