Starwood unveils first dual-branded ski resort complex in China
Starwood Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of a dual-branded ski resort near to the slopes of the Changbai Mountains, one of China's leading ski areas and a well-known resort destination.
The Dalian Wanda Group-owned resort complex in Changbaishan features Westin and Sheraton-branded hotels, with the Westin property including a 1,322 metre2 Heavenly Spa among its facilities.
The highly anticipated opening marks Starwood's first ski resorts in Asia Pacific, and further lengthens the company's footprint as the largest international luxury and upper upscale hotel operator in China where the company recently celebrated 103 hotels in operation, with another 100 hotels in the pipeline.
Stephen Ho, President, Asia Pacific for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc explains "we are proud to introduce the Sheraton and Westin brand to the Changbai Mountains with this spectacular, new year-round ski resort complex where guests will enjoy world-class amenities set against the backdrop of one of China's most visually stunning mountain ranges."
The 262-bedroom Westin hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, while the 297-bedroom Sheraton hotel offers the Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance concept.
Open to guests of both hotels and members of the public, the spa has eight treatment rooms - four of which are single rooms, two are twin rooms and the remaining two are suites. Spa facilities also include a foot massage lounge; a Turkish bath; a sauna; warm and cold water whirlpools; and a Mahjong/chess room, with a reflexology and relaxation area inside the suites.
Known for its breathtaking natural beauty, the Changbai mountain range includes a 494,000 acre nature reserve established to protect its natural environment and eco-system.
