New funding for Northern Territory tourism businesses to attract workers
The Northern Territory Government is launching $2 million in support funding to attract workers to the Top End for the upcoming dry season.
The Critical Worker Support Package can be used for travel and accommodation reimbursements and upskilling opportunities.
The closure of international borders has left many businesses struggling to find workers for roles that were previously staffed by seasonal workers, international students and working holidaymakers.
Introducing the package, Northern Territory Minister for Jobs and Training, Paul Kirby advised “we have listened to local industry and we know they’re struggling to find workers.
“This package will attract interstate workers to the Territory, to work in tourism and hospitality across the busy dry season.”
Businesses will be able to apply for grants of $1500 per new employee, up to $20,000, to help cover costs associated with attracting them to jobs.
The program will go live from 4th May.
