New Attractions Academy offers training for industry professionals
Former Village Roadshow Theme Parks industry trainer Sean McKeogh has launched a new business offering education and training for attractions industry professionals around the world.
Called Attractions Academy, the new venture will deliver training planning, development and delivery services to companies around the world looking to enhance staff training.
McKeogh has worked in almost every sector of the attractions industry and is currently Chair of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Asia Pacific Education Sub Committee, as well as being a member of the IAAPA Global Education Committee and IAAPA Asia Pacific Advisory Committee.
In various roles over more than two decades, he's also provided training solutions for Warner Bros. Movie World and Sea World on the Gold Coast, Wet‘n’Wild Sydney, the Omaha Children’s Museum, Gardens by the Bay Singapore and the Exploratorium San Francisco.
McKeogh was also part of the opening team for Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
In launching the Attractions Academy, McKeogh is looking to expand his client base, helping to deliver programs such as induction, ‘train-the-trainer’ and leadership.
Highlighted Asia as a particular market where more training focus could be established, McKeogh advised “the quality of the guest experience delivered is critically impacted by the selection, skills and engagement of the team members working within the attraction.
"Almost every new attraction project in Asia claims that they will offer an international standard, world-class attraction experience.
"Yet only a very small number of these attractions invest in planning for recruiting, training and keeping team members motivated at the quality level required to sustain world-class standards."
The new academy is a member of both IAAPA and the World Waterpark Association.
