IAAPA presents professional development events at Asian Attractions Expo 2015
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) is to stage two major professional development events in association with the upcoming 2015 Asian Attractions Expo.
The IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers will be held from 14th to 16th June while the IAAPA Safety Institute will be staged on 16th June.
Both events are taught by respected experts, recognised industry-wide for building professional competence.
IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers
14th to 16th June - Strengthening Managerial Ability
Designed for experienced attractions managers with the potential to advance into a senior management role, this two-and-a-half-day professional development program provides in-depth coverage of five core subject areas – Finance, Operations and Safety, Marketing and Communications, Human Resources and Leadership, and Revenue Operations. The program takes place at Ocean Park Hong Kong and includes two exclusive behind-the-scenes learning tours and a welcome reception.
The course will be taught by five leading experts in the attractions industry:
• Vivian Lee, ICAE – Executive Director, Ocean Park Hong Kong;
• Shaun McKeogh, ICAE – Vice President and Head of International Training Academy, Management Resources;
• Ysanne Chan – Director and Corporate Controller, Ocean Park Hong Kong;
• Ron Merriman – Managing Director, MR ProFun China; and
• Doug Akers, ICAE– Director, Business Development, Resorts World Sentosa.
IAAPA Safety Institute
16th June - Learn the Latest Best Practices in Attractions Industry Safety
This full-day program offers insights into best practices in safety operations, including safety standards, security, and ride operations. The course will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and will be presented by leading industry experts from around the globe:
• Jose Reyna, ICAE – Head of Park Operations, Enchanted Kingdom Philippines;
• Mike Denninger – Corporate Senior Director, Rides, Engineering and Maintenance, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment;
• RAC Carroll, ICAE – Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Ellis & Associates Inc.; and
• Heiko Engels – General Manager Operations HQ, Dailan Wanda Group.
Participants who complete either the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers or the IAAPA Safety Institute will receive a Certificate of Completion (subject to full attendance).
Participants will also earn credit hours toward IAAPA Certification – the new mark of professional achievement in the global attractions industry.
• Participation in the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers earns 16 credit hours.
• Participation in the IAAPA Safety Institute earns 4 credit hours.
Attendance at either of the Institute events gives access to the 2015 Asian Attractions Expo (AAE).
AAE is taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 16th to 19th June.
