Muscat beach resort to create 1,000 new jobs
Oman's Saraya Bandar Jissah residential and leisure development is set to generate up to 1,000 new jobs when complete.
Introducing the project, Chief Executive Sheikh Hamood Sultan Al Hosni explains that with d construction underway on the site it is already a major job creator for Omani capital of Muscat.
Sheikh Al Hosni explains "this is the single largest residential and tourism development to break ground in Oman since 2007. The impact on our national economy and on the local communities will be significant. All our contractors and other partners have to sign up to a 'good neighbour' policy which includes a requirement to create local employment opportunities during construction.
"Once we are operational, we believe there will be up to one thousand further new job opportunities in the operational of our residential communities and our hotel and other tourism facilities. The wheels are in motion to deliver training to Omanis in our local communities so they have the skills for these jobs."
Saraya Bandar Jissah is a new precinct that will include residences, two five-star beachfront hotels, as well as recreational and community facilities and a secluded beach near the Hajjar Mountains, just east of Muscat.
The project is being developed by Oman's tourism development and investment arm, Omran, in partnership with Saraya Oman, a subsidiary of Saraya Holdings.
Construction has begun and advanced earthworks are underway following a complete environmental impact assessment and an assessment of the archaeological sites in the area.
Sheikh Al Hosni concludes "there are a number of areas of historical and archaeological interest at the site.
"We have taken action not only to ensure they are fully protected but to integrate them into our plans (in order) to improve the richness of the overall development."
