Mt Buller ready for 2012 ski season
Mt Buller is readying to celebrate the opening of the 2012 ski season on the June long weekend in just eight days time time with the launch of Australia and New Zealand's only new chairlift.
The Bonza Chairlift, on the resort's revitalised northern slopes, is a new Doppelmayr quad chairlift spanning 530 metres that opens up 'Bonza Country' - a great mix of green and blue level terrain including some popular tree-runs.
To celebrate its opening, Mt Buller is inviting passionate skiing families to gather three generations togther to ride the chair for the first time on the opening weekend of the snow season.
Mt Buller has always promoted itself as been a 'family' mountain and the Bonza Chairlift is a family friendly chair, serving some of the most user-friendly and fun terrain at Mt Buller.
Buller Ski Lifts General Manager Laurie Blampied, explains that the opening of the lift will be a celebration of fun in the snow with friends and family, stating "Bonza will be opened by people who know the mountain and are excited about all their favourite Northside runs re-opening and getting back onto the slopes together this winter."
The Grollo Leisure and Tourism owned Mt Buller is committed to continually improving and enhancing Victoria's largest lifting network and has installed additional snowmaking, new carpet lifts and revitalised the Howqua Chairlift with all new chairs in readiness for the opening of the season on 9th June.
With early season snow falling over recent weeks the the mountain already has a white winter look.
Blampied adds "this is perfect timing for a good pre-opening snowfall (which) would be the ideal start to the season. Our snowmakers are all on standby and are eager to test out the new snowproducers we have here."
