Morris takes on VMA Presidency

Brian Morris, Chief Executive of Melbourne and Olympic Parks, has been named as the new President of the Venue Management Association (VMA).

Morris has taken on his new role during a highly successful 2011 Asia-Pacific Venue Industry Congress at Cypress Lakes Resort in the NSW Hunter Valley. He replaces Steve Romer, who steps down from the VMA Presidency after three years in the role.

Morris has been in involved in the entertainment, hospitality and venue industry over more than 25 years, holding senior management roles in the industry while having also been a consultant at Coopers and Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers).

He also lectured at Pretoria University's Graduate School of Business where he was responsible for the Chair of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Morris moved to Australia in 2000 to take up the position of Chief Operating Officer at Fox Studios Australia before moving to his present role in 2006.

Peter Thorpe of the Royal Agricultural of NSW and Bill Jessop of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre have also been elected to the VMA Board.
