Michelle Bridges joins BRW's Rich Women list

Australian fitness superstar Michelle Bridges' business success has seen her added to the ranks of the latest BRW (Business Review Weekly) Rich Women list.

Joining the list for the first time, Bridges' estimated net worth of $53 million, puts her in 29th place.

Commenting on the recognition, Bridges told BRW "it’s an absolute thrill and honour.

“I look at the other ladies on the list and just think wow! It’s a privilege to be sitting among them.”

Bridges' wealth comes from her fitness and nutrition empire, which includes television work, books and DVDs, her online program 12 Week Body Transformation (12WBT), and the Michelle Bridges-branded fitness gear and clothing range sold through Big W.

In the past year Bridges has also launched a nutritional supplement range with Blackmores and added a children’s line to her activewear range.

The 12WBT program operates overseas, though the business has pulled back from US expansion plans.

In 2014 across all Michelle Bridges brands, the business brought in turnover of about $60 million, down slightly from 2013. The strongest growth is in retail, a new Michelle Bridges-branded food range, including healthy cereals, juices, snacks and main meals, set to launch this year.

Bridges went on to tell BRW that she is still working hard on her business and brands, stating “I’m still out there doing the grind, getting out there, hands on, grassroots, keeping it real.

"We have a great team and it’s all situation normal, with our heads down and butts up.”

Last year Fitness Australia inducted Bridges into its Roll of Honour for her outstanding contribution to the fitness and health industry while her continued support of the industry will see her make presentations at the upcoming Australian Fitness & Health Expo.
