Little Big Dash presents obstacle racing for families
Billed as being like ‘Tough Mudder for families’, the Little Big Dash will today (Sunday 19th October) see over 1,000 youngsters and their families take part in a two kilometre obstacle adventure race full of colour and fun at Seventh Brigade Park in the Brisbane suburb of Chermside.
The inaugural Little Big Dash, which organisers Sanitarium claim is a world-first, will include eight colourful inflatable obstacles for parent and child teams to conquer.
Organised by the team behind the renowned Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon, Little BIG Dash is designed to bring families together in activity.
The Queensland Government is backing the event, with Queensland Sport Minister Steve Dickson welcoming helping family units bond and get physically active together outdoors
Minister Dickson explained “our Government wants to get young people fit and healthy because we are impacted by some really serious issues with young people today."
Event ambassador and Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Libby Trickett said she prided herself on "being a massive kid at heart" and she believed her family had been integral in ensuring she lived a fit and healthy life.
Trickett added "I really think this event will give everyone the opportunity to experience that childlike joy we get from tackling obstacles and having adventures with our family and friends."
