Lithgow's historic Kremer Park Grandstand restored
Lithgow City Council has advised that restoration works to the grandstand, located at Kremer Park, Portland are now complete.
Lithgow City Council Mayor, Maree Statham shared “The Kremer Park Grandstand is a much-loved community asset, which has been given an extension of life, thanks to the Resources for Regions program. These restoration works will ensure that the grandstand can be utilised by future generations.”
The historic grandstand, built in the first half of the 20th century, required significant restoration works due to damage from the elements over time. The grandstand is a key feature of the Kremer Park precinct and has been used by generations of locals when attending events at the park.
Council was able to complete these works thanks to $363,584.00 in grant funding from the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program. Restoration works have included replacing the structure’s rotten timber components, re-cladding, repainting and stormwater upgrades.
In addition, the field training lights have been replaced with 4x 350w LED luminaires and security lighting has been installed.
