Life Saving Victoria's report reveals the Y as leading in pool safety

A recent report compiled by Life Saving Victoria for the Y on safety and compliance in the leisure and recreation industry highlights Y Victoria’s industry leading results.

Following LSV’s latest Pool Safety Assessment (PSA), Y Victoria consistently outperformed other Victorian facilities by 11.4% in compliance and by 10% in safety in 2022-23. These figures confirm Y Victoria’s strong dedication to maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards.

Improving on already high standard, these figures represent a 2.9% and 2.8% increase on 2021-22.

The successful PSA process has allowed Y Victoria to set new safety benchmarks in the recreation and leisure industry.

Y Victoria Executive General Manger - Recreation, Nadine Kemp notes “being recognised by Life Saving Victoria for the Y's strong results in safety standards is testament to our unwavering commitment to safety and inclusion. Across metropolitan and regional areas, our pools and aquatics are places for the community to feel safe and enjoy being active.

“The PSA is crucial for maintaining the highest safety standards, and we’re proud to consistently lead the way in achieving these results. With support from the entire industry, we can continue to provide the safest possible environment for our patrons and staff members."

Y Victoria has been working with young people and their communities since 1853, and are part of one of the longest running not-for-profit movements in the world. Their service lines include camps, children's programs, recreation centres, action sports programs, youth services and more.
