Life Saving Victoria offers sales discount on floatation devices

To ensure they have the equipment they need to be rescue ready, Life Saving Victoria has launched a special 20% discount promotion on all rescue tubes, throw ropes and reach poles for aquatic facilities through its online shop.

In a statement, LSV advised “(this will help) prepare your aquatic centre for this winter and beyond”.

Highlighting that the “majority of aquatic rescues involve the use of rescue tubes as their main rescue tool”, LSV cite Royal Life Saving Society - Australia advice that “wherever possible, a suitable rescue or flotation device must be used by a lifeguard when performing a swimming rescue, to ensure the safety of the patient, the rescuer and any bystanders.

“For this reason, when lifeguards are supervising an aquatic environment a lifeguard should carry a rescue tube with them or have one within their immediate vicinity.”

The LSV statement points out that rescue tubes are one of the most versatile rescue items, and can be used during a reach rescue, throw rescue and cam assist aiding in a swimming rescue.

Noting that that aquatic centres must ensure that their rescue equipment is compliant and up to date, LSV Aquatic Industry Services Manager, Alek Olszewski stated “ensuring that your centre has quality rescue equipment is critical for attending to an incident in the water.

“It is best practice to have a rescue tube for each lifeguard on duty, as well as additional rescue items such as a reach pole and throw rope on pool deck at all times.

“Rescue tubes should be replaced every few years, and should be high quality canvas and rope, and stainless-steel clip to withstand corrosion,”

As a not-for-profit organisation, any proceeds from this promotion will go back into lifesaving work in Victorian communities, which helps keep everyone safe in and around water.

The promotion will run until the end of April.
