Les Mills to launch Sh'Bam Dance Workout

Les Mills International is to launch its new dance-based workout into the Australian and New Zealand markets at the upcoming Australian Fitness & Health Expo.

With dance-based workouts growing in popularity across the globe, Les Mills launched Sh'Bam to an enthusiastic audience at the recent IHRSA 30th anniversary international trade show in San Francisco.

In a statement introducing Sh'Bam, Les Mills explain that "featuring simple but seriously hot dance moves, Sh'Bam is the perfect way to shape up and let out your inner star - even if you're dance challenged.

"Set to a soundtrack of chart-topping popular hits, dance music that is heard in the hottest nightclubs around the world, familiar classics remixed and modernised Latin beats, Sh'Bam is the ultimate fun and sociable way to exercise. Each 45-minute Sh'Bam class is vibrant, unique and varied - and like all the Les Mills programs, a new Sh'Bam release is produced every three months with new music and choreography."

In his Blog, Les Mills Asia Pacific Chief Executive David Lewis added "dance (was) cited in a recent 2010 IHRSA study as being in the Top 10 global fitness trends. Sh'Bam sits in the Les Mills 'needscope' mostly in the sociability/fun section with conformity/affiliation also being influencing factors.

The program is backed by the Les Mills System with updated instructor training, Group Fitness Management tools and the latest and greatest marketing tools. Sh'Bam combined with BodyJam forms the complete dance package, with Sh'Bam acting as the mainstream program, and becoming a perfect development program for BodyJam.

The official Australasian Sh'Bam launch party at the Australian Fitness & Health Expo will feature Program Director Rachael Cohen and Program Head Coach Michelle Dean, leading a masterclass in a party atmosphere.

For clubs, Les Mills suggest that "your members will love it: they'll learn hot new dance moves; they'll get into the fat-burn zone without the'hard work' workout (and) they'll love working out to a soundtrack of popular music!

"You will love (Sh'Bam) being a fresh new program (that) creates excitement and brings energy to your club.

"Sh'Bam has a broad appeal, people aged 15 to 70 will get into it!"

One55 Health & Fitness in Sydney's Rooty Hill trialed Sh'Bam for six weeks during July and August, 2010 with Club Manager Michelle Bollins explaining "our members were blown away! They loved Sh'Bam's music and easy-to-follow moves.

"We ran our Sh'Bam classes on Monday mornings at 10:30 am and Thursday nights at 7:30 pm (and) during the trial period our casual visits increased by 53% and class numbers for Sh'Bam increased by 122%.

"It is an absolutely fabulous program for retention and as a Club Manager I would encourage all clubs to introduce Sh'Bam to their members."

The official Sh'Bam launch party will be held during the Australian Fitness & Health Expo as part of the Ultimate Super Workshop at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre on the evening of Saturday 16th April.
