Online audit tool for adventure tourism

A new online safety management system aims to help ensure businesses comply with health and safety legislation and industry best practice in New Zealand.

Aimed at the adventure tourism sector, along with the aviation and martime industries, Auditz.io helps operators establish and document their own safety management systems.

With adventure tourism operators in New Zealand being required to be registered with WorkSafe NZ and to must undergo a safety audit by a recognised auditor as of 1st November, Auditz.io gives operators a simple platform to pro-actively manage the safety of their operations.

The software also aims to ease the audit process as audit providers can log in to operators’ records to view safety management systems.

From 1st November, New Zealand adventure tourism operators offering activities that "expose participants to a risk of serious harm" must undergo a safety audit by a recognised auditor and be registered with WorkSafe NZ.

They otherwise face prosecution under the Health and Safety in Employment (Adventure Activities) Regulations 2011.

Five audit providers are now recognised by WorkSafe NZ to carry out adventure activity audits. They are:
