Lauryn Eagle launches boxing with ZOVA
International boxing champion Lauryn Eagle is backing a new kind of fitness program that is predicted to become the next global exercise phenomenon.
Eagle has teamed up with ZOVA to release ZOVA Boxing, a new way to learn boxing skills using rhythm and music.
ZOVA Boxing allows fitness instructors and teachers to use the program to motivate and engage their classes and is also available for individual use via smart devices and computers.
Experienced by over 60,000 people across Australia and around the world, ZOVA has already had significant traction with its first release ZOVA Soccer, as well as an international project with Spanish football giants Real Madrid.
ZOVA founders, James Tonkin and Niall McCarthy have been excited to work alongside
Lauryn, with Tonkin stating "since founding ZOVA, we've met and worked with some accomplished and talented athletes, but the raw athleticism and fitness level that Lauryn exudes with ZOVA Boxing has to be seen to be fully appreciated".
Eagle added "I've always used music when I train as it's my main motivator, but the way
ZOVA incorporates rhythm and exercise takes it to the next level".
Countering suggestions that ZOVA is just another fitness fad, Tonkin explains "we work with the best athletes, coaches and trainers from respective sports to create the coolest content where sports and fitness intersect.
"People are bored with DVD's and useless fitness apps that don't motivate them to move.
"(Our) content is cool and our exercises are based around real sports skills that get people moving".
In a recent study by the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), researchers found that ZOVA particularly appeared to engage and motivate people who initially nominated themselves as 'low exercisers'.
Furthermore, those who nominated themselves as low exercisers showed substantial increases in physical activity following the ZOVA program.
USC Physcology Lecturer Dr Rachael Sharman even stated ZOVA's "non-traditional" approach to physical exercise (not team-based and non competitive) was one of its key strengths.
From 7th June, ZOVA Boxing will be launched at the ZOVA website, and initial users can get started and sign up for free.
ZOVA will also be running its first official ZOVA Boxing class, instructed by Lauryn Eagle, at location in Sydney.
