Joe Marguccio announces retirement from Life Fitness

Joe Marguccio, Sales Manager for Life Fitness and Hammer Strength Australia, is retiring after 30 years of loyal service to the business.

Having first worked at Universal Gym Equipment and then Life Fitness Australia, Marguccio is one of the most recognised faces in the industry in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, having consulted on equipment purchases for thousands of customers. 

Prior to Universal Gym Equipment/Life Fitness Australia, Marguccio began his fitness journey working as an instructor at the Golden Bowl from where he went on to present a fitness segment on television’s popular Hey Hey It’s Saturday for three years. 

After working in fitness clubs Marguccio made the switch to fitness equipment sales in the early 1980s, going on work as a sales consultant for Life Fitness Australia from 1997.

Throughout those years, he has been a highly respected industry expert both with his customers and at Life Fitness.  

Looking back on his career, Marguccio explains “I have enjoyed working within the fitness industry over the past 40 years, and have seen many changes, and met many great people.

“I would like to thank everyone for your support over the years. It’s been a heck of a ride.”

Marguccio also thanked all the staff at Life Fitness, adding “without whose support, my job would have been all the more difficult. Everyone in the organisation has always looked at the best way to assist me in getting the best outcome for my clients.”

He also stated gave “particular thanks to the McClure family, who have showed confidence in me and supported me over the past 30 years. When I first started at Universal Gym Equipment, Robert (McClure)’s mantra was that we worked hard for our customers, but it was always important that we enjoy the job.

“I must say that outlook on life has ensured that I have had fun doing the job over the time, and because I enjoyed the job (and) the time has literally flown!

“Now it’s time to put the dumbbells back in the rack.

“Thanks To All.”

Marguccio will always be known for his integrity and his commitment to ensure his clients came first, his sense of humour and straight-forward approach will be missed by his customers and all the team at Life Fitness.

Marguccio’s final day at Life Fitness will be this Thursday, 29th September.
